Same as last year, I have 2x Deer, 2x Elk.. Waiting for snow to fall on Oakley and for my brother to drive up from Vacaville. Last year, we harvested almost 500 pounds of Elk + Deer meat. I've burned through about 3/4 of last years harvest, and my bro from CALI is eager for Elk. I will post up to this thread when we head out at the end of November..

Nice. I just got back from a cow elk hunt in the Southwest Desert. Netted 253 pounds of meat dropped off at the butcher last week! Just in time. I've got like one shoulder roast and one pound of steaks left from my deer last year.

Spent 7 hours packing the quarters and meat out of the backcountry to my truck last Tuesday night. About 9.5 miles total in 4 trips. 1/2 those trips with 100# more or less on my back. I'm still sore!

Where are you going for them? We own 160 acres of Swift's Canyon and get mitigation tags every year. Usually the easiest success on the west facing slopes above the farms just south of the canyon... easy drag off the hill to the truck.

My boss (CEO/Owner) owns a ranch in Oakley and can get upwards of 20 mitigation tags. In January, we had a herd of ~100 sunning themselves. Its not so much hunting as it is shooting and gutting! :)
