Similar to the Facebook deal. NY had to make a lot of concessions.... or can't see the big picture. The reason NY had to give up so much was there is 20 other cities standing in line willing to make the same deal.

As a small business owner I do think it's bullshit large corporations get tax breaks for moving in, but I also understand the big picture and what a large corporation can do for a local economy. A rising tide floats all boats.

It is an odd situation. I adamantly oppose special tax breaks to lure companies. Or sports teams. Or anything. I believe it's a violation of the equal protection clause in the Constitution. If cities and states are to compete for biz, it should be on general policy, not targeted ones.

That said, I adamantly support massive deregulation and tax reduction. So it's odd to support the "position" of AOC and Warren on this. Of course they want shakedowns and more requirements on biz, so not really.

Honest question: Isn't tax breaks to selective companies to lure them in just corporate socialism? If the government recongized social benefits to attracting more businesses to the area with more leniant regulation and lower taxes, shouldn't they make the playing field even for all the componies, not just those they are trying to woo? Thats equal to the population of South Salt lake/Saratoga Springs, Washington City, you get the idea.

The tax revenue generated by this planned venture is $10billion,over 20 years.

Now keep in mind, amazon is not getting 2-3billion in cash to stick in their pocket but rather 2 billion in incentives and tax breaks.

The ever brilliant AOC stated they could better use the 3billion(not sure where her number differs but no matter)for education,subways and local jobs.

There is no $2-3billion dollars, that was an incentive, she is not intelligent enough to understand the $7-8billion net profit over 20 years, THAT could fund

So if my early morning math is right--in 4 years, new York would be in a positive cash flow from the original tax break(investment)

I actually haven't seen anyone here claim the government shouldn't provide incentives for companies, but you keep attacking that strawman if it makes you feel better.

And the same as with every deal that has ever been made, the devil is in the details. Some are good some are shitty. In fact, take a look at the broken jobs promised of trump in Scotland for a good example. The Jazz deal worked great for all parties, as it seems RSL's stadium has. But I wonder how the people of St. Louis feel about still paying for their stadium now that Rams are in LA. Oh and ask Miami how they feel about the cost of Marlins Park. In fact, I would bet greater than 50% of the publicly financed stadiums in the past decade are not paying out what was promised.

A few days ago I was going thru a slot with a couple buddies of mine who are Thrones fanatics and I asked them to give me the rundown on it because I'd never watched it and wanted to know what the big deal was.

Apparently, it was really good. At least, all who told me they watched it said it was fantastic. I'll buy it when it gets cheap and probably watch it during winter downtimes.

AOC has made such a show of being scared on Jan. 6th but it's funny- another congresswoman says there were no "rioters" present in their hallway (and she was two doors down from AOC) and some others say she wasn't even there.


AOC suffers from Alice in Wonderland syndrome. Every time something happens that she can use to feign victimhood, she drinks it and slides down the rabbit hole. Her lies, like Alices' body, growing bigger by the minute.


So her story about the door brought back to mind the tours we took as kids living in DC. Every year our teachers dragged us to the Capitol building to walk the mighty halls and hope to meet some famous- or infamous- politician.


One of the things remember seeing were these teeny tiny doors in various locations throughout the Capitol. They explained them to us on every tour and, while interesting, I couldn't help but think about Alice in Wonderland every time I saw one.
