Back in the 70's my mom's boyfriend ran a Top Fuel dragster known as the "Wantbird". If you were around drag racing at all in the late 60's and early 70's you will know this car. Anyhoo... I scanned some pictures for him and thought you might like to see them.

Do you recall what ET's and top speeds were? Where did he race it?

I didnt start following NHRA until late 80's, so I'm pretty sure I never saw it in action.

Those pictures are from Bonneville Raceway Park, which later became Rocky Mountain Raceway. They raced all over the country. I don't know what kind of times they ran but I'll ask.

What I found interesting is the F.G. Ferre & Son sponsorship on both the car and on the timing tower. F.G. Ferre at the time was where you got all your hot rod and speed parts. They were Pep Boys, O'Reilly's, Jegs, Auto Zone and Rock Auto all rolled into one. If you were a gearhead in the 70's you spent a bunch of money in F.G. Ferre and Salt Lake Racing Equipment.

Also of interested, at least to me, is Bonneville Raceway Park was owned by my uncle Dick Godfrey (owner of Godfrey Trucking).
