Maybe the little bugger was frothing at the mouth and rabid? hard to tell from the vid. Hard to believe the cop is that big of a douche. Why stop all the traffic to save the little guy - more to the story somewhere... just too lazy to look for it.

Sheesh dude. I Googled "Cop shoots Groundhog" and about 1,000 articles popped up.

So it appears this happened in Maryland. And according to the deputy the animal was "acting strangely" so he shot it in the interest of public safety.
