Just a quick post to let everyone know about a new canyoneering-specific tent design from MSR that is now available for purchase. I've been working with the MSR design team for the past few years in an effort to manufacture a bomber tent that can withstand the harsh environment of the southern Utah landscape. Some of the primary design features include unbreakable tent poles; fully sealable window panels that can be opened when the weather is great, or sealed when wind-borne sand infiltration becomes a problem; stainless steel zippers; extra volume, 2-person design; and a host of other great features. Yes, you did hear me say "unbreakable poles". Pole breakage in high winds is the primary mechanism for tent failure and destruction. These poles can be bent completely in half and they do not break.

Yes, like most high-quality gear, these features come with a high price. Current retail cost is $1100. Yes, I know--very high. The tent is being marketed as the Guideline Pro 2. Guides and outfitters are the primary market. You can read more about the design on the MSR website here: https://www.msrgear.com/tents/guideline-pro-2

Here are a few photos that I took at the product launch at last summer's OR Show in Salt lake City:
