A quick stop at Devils Kitchen west of Fillmore. This site holds many memories and is the place that sparked my love of the desert and native american sites.....but the at the time of my early visits I was only interested in catching a good buzz on cheap beer and Humboldts finest and the sweet young female I was with.......

Sheesh! I've now driven through that area at least ~4 times in the last 2 years and could never find the reason why this place was so named, let alone the Indian art. We drove in from Fillmore, toward Pahvant Butte and the Lace Curtain, but hoping to drive my dually down that narrow trrail to the Kitchen. We never saw anything that said we should stop, turn or otherwise. Oh well. Such is the way of exploration via Cummins Dually!

It is a rather inconspicuous area, the locals refer to the area as Devil's Kitchen because in the summer it is generally 10 degrees hotter than the surrounding area, but you can easily make it in a Dually, If you take the road that is approximately 1150 meters west of the first turn off it will lead you right to the petroglyph panels. Follow this road until you come to the cliff where the road forks, (approximately 2.6.km) take the left hand fork (west) to a parking area at the base of the knoll (approximately 700 meters)and walk west along the cliff face. If you do find yourself visiting the Kitchen, be warned it is rattlesnake infested and do not attempt if it is wet !
