Warriors preferred the Clippers: 'There's no nightlife in Utah'
Warriors' forward Matt Barnes told ESPN, "There's no nightlife in Utah."
Andre Igoudala said, "...in Utah, it can kind of lull you to sleep."
Kevin Durant added, "I'm sure it's probably clubs, but I've never been to one in Utah."
"Because you're in L.A., you're

Remember that time the Jazz beat the Warriors in 5? Ten years ago, when the Jazz and Warriors met in the playoffs, Carlos Boozer was unstoppable and Baron Davis was the real deal. Take a look back at the 2007 Western Conference semifinals matchup between Golden State and Utah.

Not this time. The Warriors are the real deal. The Jazz looked sluggish and shell shocked last night. Meanwhile Golden State looked like they were having a fun little game of pickup ball, driving at will and dunking it uncontested for most of the game.

Basketball is the sport I understand the best and that I love to watch, play, etc. Quinn Snyder is a great coach. I think for game two I am looking for what adjustments Quinn will make particularly to stop all the easy baskets. Where the Warriors switch so much it is really making it hard for the Jazz to get clean and in the flow open looks. The Jazz have been so good on defense this year but last night, not so much. But then again, the Warriors are so talented and creative that to game plan for them is difficult. Many teams, Clippers included, run the same sets over and over and you can game plan that. It would be a nightmare to game plan for Curry, Durrant, Thompson, and Green. There is very little predictability which requires the Jazz to play toe to toe with the Warriors. That is a tall order for the Jazz. I hope the Jazz get more physical with the Warriors in game 2, also. Win or lose, the Jazz exceeded my expectations this year and I am enjoying watching the playoffs.

I think the message to Barnes and Iguodala and everyone else needs to be that they are 100% correct. There are absolutely no parties, no booze, no girls, no music (except country and hymns), and that if you have tatoos you need to wear a turtleneck in Utah. Further, everything closes at 8:30 p.m. to allow us to prepare our warm milk and toast for bed time.
PEOPLE - Our backyard (mountains, canyons, desert) are getting crowded! Stop defending Utah, everyone!!! Los Angeles is far superior!

Time to resurrect this thread. I absolutely love this year's version of the Jazz. They are so fun to watch when they are clicking on offense and defense. Since they exceeded my expectations last year, they FAR exceeded my expectations this year and they haven't even sewn up a spot in the playoffs yet, although it looks very good for them. I don't think they will go very far but they will give a team or two nightmares. Who would have thought since loosing Hayward to the Celtics that they would have done anything this year, let alone be in the 4th seed if the playoffs were today. What blessing to have Hayward gone. I have never liked primadonnas. Hayward was never going to be that team leader they hoped he would. I actually think the chemistry on this year's team is much better than the past several years. GO JAZZ!

Not bad considering the Warriors are the 3rd best in the NBA right now.
Man, when the Jazz started the season they were mediocre, but ever since Gober returned they've been on a tear -- third best in the west. I'm impressed.

Gotta admit -- I wasn't even paying attention to the Jazz until Gobert returned from an injury a little while ago, and ever since then the Jazz have been on fire. Now I'm kind of excited to watch the playoffs. Although Utah kind of screwed themselves by losing to Portland last night. If they would've won they would've been the 3 seed, and their outlook would have been a lot more positive. As it is, they're the 5th seed, and they will be facing a very dangerous and talented Oklahoma City Thunder squad.
Here are the outcomes of all games vs. Oklahoma City this season:
December 23 at Home - LOSS, 103 - 89 (Gobert, Neto, and Exum did not play, and Hood and Joe Johnson were still with the Jazz).
December 20 at OKC - LOSS, 107 - 79 (Gobert, Neto, Mitchell, and Exum did not play, and Hood and Joe Johnson were still with the Jazz).
December 5 at OKC - LOSS, 100 - 94 (Joe Johnson, Hood, and Exum did not play, Mitchell had 31 points).
October 21 at Home - WIN, 96 - 87 (Hood and Exum did not play, Gobert had a double - double, and Mitchell only played 21 minutes).

Mitchell seems different. This team seems different. In the press conference last night they were joking and kidding with each like I have rarely seen in the NBA. They seem to genuinely like each other and like playing with each other. I never saw that with Gordon Hayward or Derron Williams. They always seemed to be aloof. I also think Mitchell and Coach Snyder have really connected. But, I may be wrong. I actually don't want anyone to leave of the top 7 players. I do think that the Jazz could get better with a better small forward and have Engles come off the bench - and I love watching and listening to Joe Engles. He is a glue guy on the team.
I so wish we would have been the three seed so that if we get past OKC we could have played Golden State. I think we could have beaten them. As it stands, if we beat OKC in this series we get Houston. Yikes....

After one quarter, OKC has had a consistent lead, Utah has been unable to counter, and Utah's offense is non-existent.

This is encouraging. And he has like what...7 years left to his contract? I just hope -- really hope -- that he is humble enough to eke out a living on the meager millions he is paid here in Utah, and not enticed away to some glamour team with the promise of even more money and fame. So many NBA players (almost universally all) enter the league with an already over-inflated ego. And once they've been in the league for a little while, with the glitz and glamour and more money than one person should ever have in one lifetime (let alone five) their over-inflated egos balloon into a full on God complex.
I really hope he doesn't slip into that trap. So far, he seems like a pretty humble kid, and I sincerely hope that he remains that way.

The No. 13 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Donovan Mitchell led all rookies in scoring (20.5 ppg) and finished with 20+ points 47 times. Mitchell scored at least 40 points twice, was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month four times, and became just the fifth rookie in NBA history to lead a team with at least 45 wins in scoring. The others were Wilt Chamberlain (1959-60), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1969-70), Larry Bird (1979-80) and David Robinson (1989-90).
Mitchell won the Verizon Slam Dunk Contest during All-Star Weekend, and on April 10 he set a new NBA record for 3-pointers made by a rookie—he finished the season with 187, two more than Damian Lillard's previous record of 185.
