Huntley is the motor that makes this team go.... as Huntley goes, so go the Utes.

I hate to say it, but I think Wassu wins this one. Luke Faulk lights up Utah’s defense.

I'm taking Utah in this one. Huntley is back to playing great. WaZoo has crashed and burned spectacularly twice on the road this year and their is no tougher road game then the altitude special in RES.

Bring out Troy Williams. Please God, not that....

There is a lot for Utah's QB for the next two years to learn, even in a lose.

Don't forget Huntley has only started about half a dozen D1 football games, he has a lot to learn and no better time then now to school him.

11-11-2017, 05:31 PM
I won’t argue, lots to learn.

5 picks on Huntley and 3 fumbles by others. 7 turnovers won’t win many games...

Utah is just not very good this year.

Last night the O-line did a great imitation of a revolving door.

But why though? Is this a coaching problem? They have the talent. So why can't they do something with it?

It's been years since I've seen a Utah squad perform this dismally. Not really sure of the reasons why.

Iceaxe
11-12-2017, 03:27 PM
The O-line is a huge part of the problem. And the biggest part of that problem is last years O-line is now playing in the NFL This is a very young O-line. It also doesn't help that the new offensive requires completely different blocking schemes that Utah is slow to grasp. This new offense requires the line to slide, while past offenses required more a bulldozing method. Injuries to the O-line haven't helped.

Utah has really good coaches and they will get things fixed. I really don't think things are as bad as some of you are making them out to be. Utah was 2 yards short of beating USC, and they had a chance to tie up last night's game in the last 2 minutes, and that was after 7 turnovers.

It also doesn't help that the PAC 12 is really good top to bottom. The difference between those on top and those on the bottom usually comes down to 4 or 5 plays a game, that's a very narrow path to the top.

In addition, anyone that thought installing a completely new offense would be easy and painless was fooling themselves. Occasionally you get a glimpse of what this offense can do when the team gets in sync, but right now they step on their own dick much too often.

Right now I'm just hoping this team gets bowl eligible as the 2 extra weeks of practice that comes with a bowl will go along ways towards helping next years team fix some of the issues they have.

Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes the bear eats you.

For 58 minutes Utah played to win. They were aggressive and daring. For the final 2 minutes of the game Utah played not to lose. They dropped into a prevent you from winning defense and ran their 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense...

Guess what happened?

Washington put their foot on the gas and scored 10 points in under 3 minutes.

So many positives for Utah before this point to lose that games. On sides kick, fake punt, the list goes on.

Utah has had a consistent history of coming up short -- for the last two years. Remember last year's red zone woes? Yeah those same woes have carried into this season. And Utah is constantly stepping on their own dicks, losing games because of self inflicted wounds.

At some point this becomes an issue of head coaching. If coach Mora can get shit canned with a winning record over at UCLA, then Whitt has gotta know that if this nonsense continues he could be getting walking papers soon...

Playing in a bowl is the same as getting an extra spring practice. The NCAA gives you 15 days for spring practice and 15 days for bowl practice.

BREAKING NEWS: One of Utah’s most highly recruited prep football players has transferred from Stanford to Utah to be closer to home.

Former Brighton High star running back Sione Lund was redshirting at Stanford this season when he withdrew in October and returned home. He enrolled at Utah this week and expects to join the football team in January.

^^^ Sick and tired of sitting the bench in Bryce Love's shadow I'll bet.

I doubt it as Lund was on a red shirt year. Love has one year left if he doesn't come out early. Worst case Lund would have three years of opportunity. Remember Love spent 2 years behind Christian McCaffery. Stanford is near the top of places you want to go if your a RB.

I think this has more to do with wanting to be near family. I know when my kids went to college that was a big deal. My oldest had a full ride academic scholarship to just about anywhere she wanted to go. But one of the big factors in her school selection was being near her family and the support system it offered.

rockgremlin
12-02-2017, 10:58 AM
If Lund is the real deal it will be interesting to see where he falls on Utah's RB depth chart. Especially with Zack Moss and Henry-Cole really starting to shine AND Armand Shyne returning next season.
