I work and live in Escalante. My job allows me to meet and speak with all sorts of different kinds of people.
On Tuesday night an Aussie started to chat me up and begged my girlfriend to "let me out" as my job dictates that i be available pretty much 24/7. My girlfriend reluctantly agreed to allow me some exploration time the next morning.
The next morning David the Aussie and I set out to what i hoped would be a great trip to the Collet Top Arch. I had screen shots and beta and directions and a general knowledge of exactly where I was going.

NOPE! Nada Zilch. Couldn't find that dang thing.
Alas the canyon I stumbled into didn't wait long to offer up the proverbial scent that
David and I were on to something.
After zig zagging down some rock out croppings a red with black striped shard stuck out like a sore thumb in the midst of rubble.
"yes!" we exclaimed. we were happy to find something after wandering for hours.
we decided to head into the valley and scan the canyon walls for something more legitimate. It paid off.
In a slurry aussie accent David said
"I reckon that hole up there (points) might be something"
We traversed up the cliff side ever growing with excitement as it became more and more clear that yes in fact it was a dwelling? a granary? a semi modern cashe?
no matter we admired this piece of architecture from years past and cracked a few beers all the while trying to surmise its purpose among the many shards of pottery and pack rat doings.
a few pictures from this area that I didn't stop exploring.

the first first and second picture are right off a road on the plateau.
the third picture was rotated left for whatever reason when uploaded.
the 4th and 5th pictures are self explanatory
