Time to start the official Bogley thread on the 2016 Olympics.
Usually around now is when you start hearing the grumblings of whether or not all the infrastructure will be finished in time, but that appears to be only a small part of Brazil's problems.
Let's take a quick look at the 2016 Olympics and the issues they face.
The President of Brazil might be impeached before then.
There could be a coup.
There is a huge corruption scandal brewing between a huge state owned Oil company and the olympic projects.
Many government officials are facing corruption charges.
The Zika virus presents a global health emergency. Although they are going to provide athletes with free mosquito nets. So maybe that problem is solved.
Brazil is in the worst recession since the 1930's.
A huge subway system to connect the olympic venues probably won't be complete.
They have fired 20% of the public transport vehicles they had planned on using in order to save money.
Tests at almost complete venues have suffered major electrical outages (among other things).
Rio's Guanabara Bay, where most water sports will be held, is completely polluted by raw sewage. Athletes will have to protect against disease in order to compete.
An elevated bike path, a major project by the mayor, collapsed last week killing two people.
Ticket sales are way down.
Russia is currently banned from international athletic competition because of widespread doping and might not be allowed to compete.
Did I miss anything?
