What a great trip out to Pilot Peak, then as far North as Lucin.
the Wind was cold and howling ~40mph, but it didn't stop us from having a great time. We covered ~138 miles in our loop around the entire Pilot Peak range, crossing over into Nevada briefly. The highlight was running this pass on the far North end of the Pilot range:

Finally, while we were heading back to the trucks, nearing 6pm, in the distance and in the mud/salt flats we saw a vehicle. He was at least 1.5 miles off the Pilot Rd and was following the Hastings Cut-off in his 2WD dodge. Upon reaching him, he told us he'd been stuck there the last few hours and was grateful to see other people. We spent about 1.5 hours digging, prying, to no avail.
Finally, after finding no WINCH hooks, we wrapped Aaron's winch strap around the rear A-Arm, then I hooked my Winch to Aaron's ATV and we managed to yank him free. We ensured he knew to head back to Pilot Rd and not to continue down the super muddy Hastings Cutoff. Deed well done, I suppose.
