I don't know if it's more of a Southern "thing" or not, but we know that if you've got someone working at your home and there is food prepared, you always share! You just can't have someone smelling jambalaya cooking all afternoon and leave them drooling! :slobber: Of course it helps if you're a good cook! Looks like you were given some good stuff. :2thumbs:

Looks like you were given some good stuff. :2thumbs:Oh yes...absolutely wonderful people. I do think it's a southern thing, or else the folks are genuinely compassionate. It's only occasionally that clients give me food. Perhaps two or three times a year.

Some folks, when you're working on the outside of their home, don't even offer the use of the bathroom. It's interesting being a house painter...you are with these people in their homes for many hours or days. People are a trip. It sure is nice to run into friendly ones.

Finished their house today...TOTALY DETAILED. They gave me a $400 tip. I'll give them a few hours free next time.

I just got back from a week in California. Some things I won't complain about anymore. At least not for a while, that is.

1. Traffic. We got nothing on LA and San Diego, including all points in between.
2. Homelessness. It's a problem everywhere, but it's on a whole 'nother level there.
3. Food prices. Even a cheap meal is about 20% more there than here.
4. Bad neighborhoods and creepy creepers. Pretty much all over once you get about 1/2 mile from the beaches.

At least the weather was good, and the air quality was better than we've had this summer, so there's that.

This is all of course, IMHO. I was happy to be back in Utah.

I just got back from a week in California. .I lived in north Orange County and San Diego from '77-'93...hauled ass out of there and haven't been back.

Denver is getting pretty thick. Nothing like LA just yet, but busy enough with growth all around. I've been thinking about bailing out of here too, but it's hard because as long as I live in Denver, I never have to worry about money.

We moved to Florida in '73. Everything west of us was a mess from Hurricane Camille four years earlier. They had hardly cleaned up the mess. I was only 9 years old and I remember asking "What happened". All the locals still talked about it.

In regards to this one, they've got rescue squads all over the place. Ready to pluck those poor souls from rooftops and rivers. Happens all the time.

What's encouraging is the praised response to the big floods in Texas. Perhaps whoever Trump put in there has got it oiled up real good? Let's see how they do this time.

In a nutshell, back in '98 I walked into a Planned Parenthood and said "Hi, I just started dating a gal that I really like and she has herpes...what do I need to know?" I knew nothing about it and was hoping there was something one could do to assure protection.

Well, forget about that. It's highly contagious. Blows right thru condoms and can be passed on even with no symptoms present. Bottom line...if you're having sex with someone who has it, it's only a matter of time. Too risky even with those that go years without outbreaks.

As a result, those relationships (hookups, friends with benefits, etc...) simply don't happen. I shut it down.

For those of you that are married and may think it would be awesome to be single again...well, it is! But..it's a bit of a maze out there and the grass isn't necessarily greener in the single world.

We had to leave Mexico after the hot young stripper wife got us tossed out of a Mexican bar... and that's a true story... only thing I really haven't figured out is how in the hell do you get tossed out of a Mexican bar?

They told her $20 for all she could drink and then when they tried to cut her off because she was drinking all their profits she went all "Stripper Wife" on them... among my friends "going Stripper Wife" is now the term they use when the little blonde gringo chick kicks the bouncers ass... hahaha... I tried to tell the bouncer he didn't want the mess with her but he either didn't believe me... or my Spanish just sucks and I ask him if his sister was the star of the donkey show... who knows.... Mexico is a strange place...

After I showed him how it worked the guy wouldn't stand within 20 feet of me. He was thanking me for helping but from half way across the yard, it was really strange.
