I'd like to ask what kind of plant is this:

The picture is from Horse Bench south of Green River. We have seen this plant on other places too.

Rob Clifford from ExpeditionUtah gave another explanation. It is Halogeton Glomeratus (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halogeton_glomeratus), a highly noxouis species, especially dangerous for sheep.

Aha, I stand corrected.
Upon closer inspection I see that the leaves are all wrong. Halogeton typically grows upward, and is typically recognized in its flowering state, which is why I thought at first that it was purslane, which invariably grows outward, along the ground.
I saw the red stems and was fooled.
Yeah, don't eat that stuff
