I bought a couple tickets for tonight's $800 million draw. I probably spend about $20 a year on lotto, and it's usually initiated by whopper payouts like this.

By golly if I'm going to get beaten by the odds, it's going to be for a NICE payout, not some puny $30 million.

That made me laugh!

Tickets were even advertised for sale in the UK press today (I declined)

I was just thinking how much $1.3 billion really is. That is buy your own jet to fly to your private island type money. Seriously that is a crazy amount of coin.

But I'm starting the night off with a suitcase of cash at the strip club.

And than flying to my private volcano island that is guarded by sharks with frickin lasers on their heads.

BWAhahahaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, you could buy entire corporations and cities for that amount of jack.

Even when you start slicing it up, it's still frickin' huge.

$1.3 Billion...equates to
$806 Million cash option
less 39.7% to the guv'mint... leaves
$486 Million

You should learn a lesson from Jack Whittaker, though. Suitcases and strip clubs...not a good combination.

Damn...after winning his lottery, Jack Whittaker's life turned into a series of unfortunate events. Might have been a curse more than anything.

I'd spend most the money on fast cars and fast women... the rest of the money I'd probably just waste.

That is all my coworkers who sit by me talk about. It is getting sickening.

We discussed this facebook post in class today...

I asked them if they thought this would really work, why or why not?

Most of them said no because people are selfish, or they'd spend the money on other things etc...but the number of people who actually figured out why it wouldn't work was PAINFULLY LOW.

I have 10 tickets for tonight's drawing. My wife and kids have certainly had more than $20 worth of fun from the tickets playing "what if".

How do you buy tickets without driving out of state?

Sadly, there are people arguing the math on this, even after they are shown the correction. These are the people buying up most of the tickets.

Hahaha.... $4.33 cents each.... enough to buy everyone a calculator.... problem solved.

Don't tell me you don't know someone driving up to buy tickets?

I just give $20 to whomever is dumb enough to drive up and tell them to buy me 10 tickets. I also give them a list of the alcohol I want them to bring back as both my favorite whiskey and favorite beer are not sold in Utah, even at the state liqueur store.

It's a win/win for me :2thumbs:

The drawing is tomorrow night. I am hopeful we'll hit Littlefield, AZ before the drawing and grab a handful of tickets before we continue South!

With 900 million you could spend $1,000 per night on hookers and coke for 2,465 years.... that sounds like a good investment strategy to me.... good thing I bought another ticket today.

Wow. Even if the math had been done correctly, and even if folks got the full value, and even taxes weren't taken out... four-and-a-third dollars spread out over thirty years would suck.

We missed getting tickets to the 1.5B lotto, but we hit Littlefield, AZ on Thursday and are in for the $40M jackpot!
