Back Story?

A friend sent me this... anyone know the back story? anyone know where it was taken? Did the guy live or die?

It's been shared on Bogley once or twice before.

I can't recall exactly but I believe it was in Europe and the guy was okay as in the original video you see people swimming to him and he's waving back.

I don't remember much more than that though.
