UINTA NATIONAL FOREST — Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who has been sighted walking naked near campgrounds in the Uinta National Forest.

The first sighting occurred July 26, 2014, and since then, the nude man has been seen eight times near the Crystal Lake, Wall Lake, Washington Lake and Clyde Lake areas, according to the Summit County Sheriff's Office. The most recent sighting occurred Sunday.

The sheriff's office said the man reportedly approaches campsites in undesignated campgrounds and waits "to be observed nude before fleeing into the thick timber." The man typically conceals his face with various types of masks, making identification difficult.

"Apprehension of the suspect has been hampered by delayed reports of the sightings due to the remote areas of occurrence and lack of cellular service," the sheriff's office said.

Several of the incidents have involved juveniles who were camping in the area, but there weren't any reports of physical contact.

The suspect is described as a tall, white male around 30-40 years old with a skinny build and shoulder-length brown hair. The Summit County Sheriff's Office is working with United States Forest Service Law Enforcement Officials to identify and locate the man.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the man or who has had similar encounters in the area can contact the Summit County Sheriff's Office at 435-615-3601.
