I lived in Watsonville for 2 years (between Santa Cruz & Monterrey, and just off the PCH) while working as CISO for West Marine. The "bay" was my backyard and working for a boating supply company, I had unlimited access to Zodiac's, sailing ships, etc..

Trust me, after 2 years of nothing but ocean stuff in the bay, you get tired of it. The whales and other sea life were cool to see, but the sea lions were a total pain in the ass while in a zodiac. I do miss the awesome 60-70F year-long weather though.
