Looking for something to do today, we hiked to the highest peak on Catalina today.

Although not physically difficult at only 2097' in elevation, I read a report that it was rated as the 13th most remote peak in california Due to its location on the island and it's location on the island itself. 14 miles into the trans catalina trail or a wildlands bus ride to the blackjack trailhead and then hike up to the peak.

Anyone on the island looking for something different than the normal tourist trap stuff would enjoy it. After the peak instead of backtracking we pushed farther north and hiked to the airport where we caught the bus and headed back to avalon. We didn't see another person on the trail. Only a fox and some buffalo roaming around
