Call me childish. A few years ago I stood in line to get a signed poster by Ueli Steck at the Mountain Hardwear Booth at OR. Somewhat impersonal, but exciting nonetheless! Yesterday a young woman and young man dropped in to The Desert Rat for some climbing beta for the local area. You guessed it.....the young man was Ueli himself! I had heard from another customer that he'd seen Ueli earlier last week in Moab and thought that was bitchin, but to have him come here and shop my store was a super treat! Very nice folks, and I just had to know if Ueli intended to go back again to attempt a completion of his Everest/Lhotse goal. To my surprise he'd planned to give it a go this season, but because of the earthquake thought it not to be best, however next season he may give it a go! Anyway, I'm so glad they came in and I got to meet them.
