View Full Version : Geometric designs above North Wash

When you climb Turkey Knob, you can look down on geometric designs in the desert. Much like the Nazca Lines, you don't really notice them when you are on the ground, but you can see them when looking down on them from above.
They are actually all over the place in the northern ramparts of the rim of North Wash. Some are fairly old as some of the roads they are located were washed out and abandoned years ago.
Does anyone know what they are?

Yup, I think Bootboy is correct. They're all over the San Rafael Desert as well, and almost always occur along old seismic lines. I can't say for certain exactly why they were created, though. Did they set up a swarm of seismic sensors in a small area? I would love to have been a bulldozer operator back in the 50s or 60s or whenever these were made.

I agree that it was probably for seismic exploration, but perhaps the bulldozer operators either got bored or decided to have a little fun with it.
