You have probably heard the news...

Founding member and rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young has dementia (http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/01/showbiz/music/malcolm-young-acdc-dementia/index.html?hpt=hp_t2).
Angus and Malcolm's nephew, Stevie Young will replace Malcolm (http://www.wcsx.com/gmi/classicrocknews/2014/05/05/acdc-set-to-tap-stevie-young-to-replace-malcolm-young#.VCxHvCtdV2Z) in the band. He filled in for Malcolm on their world tour in 1988.
AC/DC will release their first album since 2008's Black Ice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Ice_(album)), which was #1 in 10 countries, selling over 8 million copies worldwide.
AC/DC's new album, "Rock or Bust (http://www.acdc.com/us/news/new-album-out-december-2)" will be released on 12.2.14. You can preview part of the single "play ball (http://www.acdc.com/us/news/preview-play-ball)" on the MLB postseason clip on TBS.
In 39 years of their career, AC/DC sold over 200 million albums worldwide, roughly 71 million in the US.[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC/DC_discography#cite_note-6) Back in Black alone sold 22 million (50 million worldwide), and is the second highest-selling album of all time (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_albums_worldwide).

Yes! I plan to attend at least one of their concerts on this tour, if not a couple! :guitar:

Anxiously waiting the album and the tour.

AC/DC “PLAY BALL” LYRICS:

Listen, pick me up
Fill my cup
Pour me another round
Come on man, mix in the sin
Come in and join the crowd
I said it’s party time
When I’m on the loose
Make it feel alright
Listen, drinks all around
I’m in the mood
Because the night is mine

Let’s play ball
Shoot down the walls, yeah
Let’s play ball, baby
Battin’ down the stalls
Play, play, play ball

Listen Sid, light me up
I’m in love
I’m all regional now
Dive on in and swim in the gin
Come on, shout it out loud

Let’s play ball
Shooting down the wall, yeah
Let’s play ball
Battin’ down the stalls, yeah
Play, play, play ball

Let’s play ball
Shooting at a wall
Let’s play ball
And never stall
Let’s play ball
Let’s play ball
Let’s play ball
Play, play, play ball

Yeah I don't think so. I don't think it was him in that music video, although the hair style looked like "classic Phil Rudd" but he's had shorter hair for a few years now. He almost didn't make the studio recordings and he was absent in a lot of the recent photo shoots.

AC/DC's Phil Rudd Threatened to Kill a Man and His Daughter

Phil Rudd in a New Zealand court on Nov. 26
Alan Gibson/New Zealand Herald/AP

By Associated Press
12/05/2014 AT 01:15 PM EST

For the first time, New Zealand prosecutors have publicly outlined their case against AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd (http://www.people.com/article/acdc-phil-rudd-charged-murder-plot-ac-dc). On Friday, they said that he called a man who had worked for him for three years and threatened to kill him and his daughter. The details were in a brief one-page "summary of facts" released by prosecutors. They have charged the 60-year-old drummer with threatening to kill, which comes with a maximum prison sentence of seven years, as well as possessing methamphetamine and marijuana. He has pleaded not guilty and faces a judge-only trial next year.

Prosecutors said that on Sept. 26, Rudd first called a business associate and talked about "what he wanted done" to the man, before calling the man and making the threats. Prosecutors said the man worked for Rudd under a contract arrangement. According to prosecutors, Rudd told police he didn't make the alleged phone calls and had not threatened to kill anyone.

Prosecutors said police searched Rudd's home in the small city of Tauranga on Nov. 6 and found 130 grams (4.6 ounces) of marijuana and 0.7 grams (0.02 ounces) of methamphetamine. They said Rudd did acknowledge possessing a small amount of marijuana. The release of the document came a day after Rudd was detained by police after getting into a scuffle with a witness in his case. Mabey said it was a "chance meeting" between the pair in Tauranga that developed into a scuffle. Rudd's lawyer, Craig Tuck, said his client acknowledged the scuffle with the witness, who happened to be in a coffee shop at the same time, reports the Sydney Morning Herald (http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/music/acdcs-phil-rudd-made-a-death-threat-phone-call-prosecutor-20141205-120oa7.html).

Rudd was later released on bail without further charges, although a judge did impose an additional bail condition that he not consume illegal drugs.Rudd's future with the popular Australian band remains uncertain. The band this week released its new album, Rock or Bust.

Phil Rudd isn't with the band anymore, Brian Johnson quit as per doctor's orders (hearing loss), and Malcolm is dead. Today's AC/DC is a mere fragment of what it was. It's currently a Guns n' Roses/ACDC hybrid, with Axl Rose at lead vocals.

I'm curious how this Frankenstein'ed version of AC/DC will sound...

Where have you been? Brian and Phil were spotted outside a recording studio last August. So minus Malcolm Young, it looks like it will be the same lineup as they had in 1980. They’ve got Stevie Young in Malcolm’s place and he has filled in for Malcolm a few times dating back to 1988.

I own probably 2000 albums and when I really like an artist, I'll usually collect their entire discography. Never did get into AC/DC. I remember when Back In Black came out...yeah, it was a good album but not really any different than anything they'd put out up to that point...their music all sounded the same to me. That can be said about a lot of bands, certainly...but this band was like the king of that to my ears.

There is one exception and it's the only AC/DC album I own...Powerage. That album sounds like they just put microphones in a room and the boys just cut loose. Very raw, live sound with outstanding guitar solos...the best he ever did, IMO.

I was painting the interior of a house a few years ago and the gal that lives there asked if I'd like to listen to music while I worked. "Well, of course" I said. "As long as it isn't Rap or "New Country" then we're good"...she played Back in Black, the whole album. Right after that, she played Def Leppard's Pyromania.

Those two albums sound EXACTLY ALIKE. Then I learned those albums were produced by the same guy...kind of a one trick pony with the multitrack vocal anthem sound.

I'm familiar with a lot of bands from the 70s that are a bit obscure but made outstanding music...lots to choose from. Along with that is the fact that a lot of very famous bands that formed in the early/mid 70s had their earliest albums as their best, IMO...the music is usually much more varied than the "formula" they locked into after getting famous. One band that is not obscure at all but their earliest albums are unfamiliar to most people is Judas Priest. If you're not familiar with it, listen to their album "Sad Wings Of Destiny"...it'll likely blow you away. Listen to it LOUD.
