Robbie Maddison makes Evil and his son Robbie look like pikers.... No offense meant to the man who started it all....

I give Evil a lot of credit, the motorcycle's he used for jumping were complete junk compared to what the guys have now days. Evil had a mighty 3" of suspension travel on a 400# pig. He was also the first superstar stuntman and paved the road all the others would follow.
At one time I was pretty good friends with Robbie Knievel when he lived in Salt Lake, the guy is a first class party animal. As an actual rider he would have been a race winning amateur. Robbie did make a couple impressive jumps (at least to me) like the skyscraper roof top to roof top jump.
The biggest problem with all these guys is they have to continually think up a new stunt to top the last. Everyone of them makes a loud clanking sound when they walk because of their giant brass balls.
Many of Madison's jumps I have seen are impressive looking but technically are no more difficult than what the Knievel's did. They were just better engineered and he is using bikes that are 20 years more advanced then what Robby K used for most of his jumps. That's a huge difference.

FWIW- Evil was a complete asshole in real life. Robbie K was one of the nicest guys you would ever meet.

He may be an A'hole in his later life but he was idolized by so many young people back then, including myself.
