Havasupai 2014

This was my 4th trip down to Havasupai, it seems to get better each time. We hiked in early on Thursday morning, starting at 2:30 am, reaching the reservation check in desk right when it opened at 6 am.

We set up camp, hung out at Havasu Falls that first day. Friday we climbed down to Mooney Falls, hung out for a while and then made the 6 mile round trip hike down to Beaver Falls which is an absolute must.

Saturday we went up to Rock and Navajo Falls, did some jumping. Then we went up to the village cafe and got some decent grub, enjoyed the air conditioning while outside temps were over 100.

Sunday morning we started early again and hiked out.

It seems more and more people are opting to take the helicopter out. At $85 one way, it's pretty tempting. All 5 of us packed all of our gear in and out.

It's roughly 9 miles to the campground, maybe 4 from our camp down to Beaver Falls, and then up to the village and back was maybe 3.... we estimated @30 miles for our trip.

If you have not done this one I say do it while you can. Ain't been there since 88 but it rocks.
In camp there is these little fish that in the river that clean your toes. Yes every camp gets a chunk of the in flow If memory serves me as bad as it does.
I love the chains through the tunnels to get to the bottoms and if you into it the CO. is within 7 more miles.

I reccomend timing this with a full moon for the hike back out after dark.

Yes the hike in mid summer can be so deadly hot. It's nice and cool in the middle of the night, and the trail is not technical enough to worry about. Just get a $15 headlamp and leave either side of the trail at 2:30 am, get to your destination just as the sun is coming up.
