View Full Version : Help Lost gear in Pine Creek
18 til I die

This is my first post, so hopefully I can get this right.
I took 3 friends down Pine Creek Friday the 30th, and somewhere between the last rappel, and the swimming hole at the end, one of my friends left my 80 ft. rope and bag somewhere along the way. The rope was an Imlay Canyonero 9.2, which was in a Imlay pot shot bag. The rope is green and orange. By the time I realized they left it, and I hiked back up, the rope was gone. There was a group behind us who may have picked it up. I hope that's not why they didn't stop by the swimming hole and went directly to their cars. If you may have found it, and could let me know, I would appreciate it.

Consider contacting the Zion backcountry desk. That is where I would leave your rope if I found it in Pine Creek.

Ya, I checked on the way out, and they didn't have it, but thanks Slot Machine. At least my friends are willing to spit the cost of replacing the gear. It makes it easier to do things for others when they're willing to help out.

Losing gear is a rite I passage for canyoneers, or at least that's what I tell myself so I feel better about the gear I lost.:haha:

All that stuff you choose to carry into the canyon is all disposable. Only you have to come back, not your gear. But I did loose a really nice folder crawling around in the squeeze and a bunch of gear on the last rap in Chop Rock when my gear rack tore off my harness-had to buy new tiblocs and a replacement ATC. Ouch.
