I had a great hike (walk) up-and-down a traditional English (but now disused) slate mine yesterday (on foot), and there are some interesting rapelling opportunities.
However: it was raining, and slate in the wet is so slippery that my poxy Keen shoes that have been so successful for me in the sandstone of Utah had absolutely no grip whatsoever.
Would Canyoneer 5/10's be good on slate? Does anyone have any experience?
