I did my 1st road century yesterday. I've done the ride around the white rim trail in one day by mtn. bike, but never a road 100 miler. We started in Highland, pedaled out to Redwood Road, headed south then around Utah Lake and back home. There were probably about 24 of us. It was fun and my nutrition and hydration plan worked to perfection. I've been forcing myself to ride on the road this spring to prepare for it, even when the dirt has been good and calling my name. What I've discovered is road riding in the spring helps build that aerobic base needed for summer mtn. biking. It wasn't a race and we weren't out to break any speed records. Here's my stats from Strava: 101 miles; 5 hours 52 minutes (wheel turning time); 17.2 average mph; 3,938 calories burned.

that is awesome, sounds like a great loop to do a century! Did you guys have a place to re-fill bottles or get some food half way through? Looks like a ton of fun and the weather worked out for you.

We had 1 support vehicle (a pick-up) that would leap-frog or wait at the next meet-up point. It worked out well. I wouldn't want to ride it self-supported, especially on a hot day.
