Zion Pine Creek Incident Last Saturday? 4/19

Was driving through Zion Saturday around noon and there were two ambulances & park rangers at the switch back parking area for Pine Creek. People running all around. As we were driving out of the park towards Springdale, another ambulance was speeding into the park. Anyone know what happened? Just curious.

Curious as well. Two of us did Pine Creek Saturday. When we picked up our permit about 10:30 am Derrick at backcountry desk told us permits for 30 people had been pulled already. We expected to see some group(s). We drove up the canyon and parked about 11:15. We started the canyon about 11:45. We saw no one. We took almost 3 hours (taking our time, waiting for the sun to hit the middle section, etc.). When we got back to road about 3:30 it seemed like no one had been through it all day. We never heard ambulances.

From our limited view, it was a great day btw, farmer johns were perfect, few swimmers, though almost no water at cathedral.

It might have been for the swimming hole. The big rock in the middle of the pool has claimed more than its share of broken bones. Extracts from Pine Creek slot are normally done through one of the tunnel windows with a high line.

The pool was really low last monday.

Or....filled with sand....maybe?

All of pine is filled with sand. Most I've ever seen
