I'm heading out this weekend for the open turkey hunt. We spent the weekend in Marysvale (our normal hunt area) but saw no sign at all. I can hunt from Fillmore to Beaver. If you know where the turkey can been seen, send it.

Feel free to come shoot the bastards at my place... better than cleaning the turky shit off the porch again. Time to bump this one again.

We're heading out this afternoon. I've heard of good hunts in Northern Utah (Mantua / Brigham City) and in Oak Canyon. Anybody else get out for the limited entry hunt?

I'll be in the southern part of the state, Bryce on Monday for the general turkey hunt. Can't wait. I know quite a few good spots in the southern portion of the unit.

My youngest and I are trying the Marysvale area yet again. As he's 17, he's allowed to hunt May 1-4th..

I see them all the time up American Fork Canyon including a bunch of them this spring.

My wife had a Southern tag, we were in turkeys every day.
Could not get one closer than 50 yds, calling.
My calling must suck, had em answering me but couldn't close the gap.
We mostly hunted East of Paragonah.

I have killed turkeys 50 yards and beyond while shooting the 3-1/2 # 6 2oz loads from federal. I do use a briley turkey choke. Turkeys are very smart and hard to bring into shooting range.

My wifes hunt is over BUT last night I called in a nice Tom to just under 30yds.

Go figure.

I called for my friend back in 2011 in the New Harmony area. He actually shot 7 arrows in one day and he did end up hitting one that same day. 7 opportunities in 1 day was unbelievable. I have 2 bows, but I prefer bigger targets.

Lately, I'd be content with using a howitzer if it meant actually bagging a turkey. 3 years in a row, we can see the turkey, hear them, but can't get them close enough, or out of the brush - for a decent shot. I'm going to invest in hand grenades! :naughty:

A few years ago I worked on a project in Durango. Not much in the way of bird hunters down there. You could buy turkey tags over the counter for $65. Best part was you could use a rifle if it was over 60 gr. bullets. All of the guys on my crews that bought a tag got a turkey... some at 300 yds, but they cooked up the same!
