AC/DC are ending their 41 year career on a terribly sad note.

Plans were underway for a new studio album, their first since 2008's monumental Black Ice, and a '40th Anniversary' world tour, 40 huge shows across the globe.

More than a month ago, founding member, rhythm guitarist, co-producer and co-songwriter Malcolm Young had a stroke, which left a blood clot on his brain.

After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group

Although Malcolm may or may not be ill, it sounds like the rumors of retirement aren't quite true.

Let there be [more] rock....

I've seen a close friend and business associate recover 90% from a very serious stroke (that should've killed him) several years ago. There's hope yet.

Still some Rock and Roll attitude left. :haha:

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — The 60-year-old drummer for Australian rock band AC/DC was accused Thursday of trying to arrange two killings as well as possession of drugs.

I would think this next tour is way to big to cancel now...somebody's son was going to fill in for Malcolm and all they need to do is call up one of the two guys that banged on the drums for them from '83 to '94 and they're going to pull in millions. Drummers are a dime a dozen.

Exactly. Simon Wright or Chris Slade.

Sounds like Rudd is pretty messed up...

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd's charge of attempting to procure murder has been withdrawn.

Rudd, 60, appeared in the Tauranga District Court yesterday, charged with attempting to procure the murder of two men.

He was also charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of cannabis and threatening to kill.

Rudd's lawyer, Paul Mabey QC, said this afternoon the Crown solicitor withdrew the attempting to procure murder charge after a meeting between Mabey and police.

* AC/DC: The backstory

"The decision to charge Mr Rudd was made by the New Zealand Police without consultation with the Tauranga Crown solicitor," he said.

The Crown solicitor said there was insufficient evidence to justify the charge and has withdrawn the charge, Mabey said.

The Crown solicitor's office confirmed the charge had been withdrawn.

"The charge alleging an attempt to procure murder should never have been laid," Mabey said.

"The Crown solicitor's opinion was not sought."

Mabey said Rudd would defend the threatening to kill charge. He described the drugs possession charges as "minor".

"Mr Rudd has suffered unnecessary and extremely damaging publicity as a result of widespread and sensational reporting of a very serious allegation, which on any basis was never justified."

Rudd was released on bail after yesterday's appearance.

According to the charges laid and now withdrawn by police, Rudd had tried to get two men killed - their names and that of the intended hitman were all suppressed by the judge.

Police were contacted for a response, and said a statement would be issued soon.

Rudd is toast...I'll bet they announce his firing withing days. The meth alone is enough to do it.

Nah. Worse stuff goes on backstage during any given concert tour of any given rock band. Rudd isn't going anywhere. If anything this was a publicity stunt to generate more cash for the up and coming album/world tour.

No such thing as "bad press"

I'm surprised at how fast the case was dismissed though. The good thing is they've got their studio work all done. Rudd did miss the film dates for 2 music videos, could have been related to this stuff.

They're definitely going out on tour within a year with or without Rudd. My guess is he'll be there.
