Hey Bogley community - I'm visiting Utah (used to live here and cannoneer more often) and was wondering if anyone had suggestions for a day trip for a family with small kids (ages 3 and 5). I was thinking goblin valley, I saw something about the Grand Canyon of Utah near price, but wanted to ask.

Thanks in advance!

I saw something about the Grand Canyon of Utah near price, but wanted to ask.

"Little Grand Canyon" of the San Rafael River perhaps?

It sounds like you are looking for some non-technical stuff. In that case, Goblin Valley will work fine. You wouldn't want to go farther than that on a day trip from SLC; in fact even going that far is going to make a really long day trip.

I've taken on the following day shot from slc.

slc -> hamburger Rocks / Ghoul Gulch -> Reid Neilsen Draw / Crawford Draw -> 1-70 to the 6 -> slc.

a pleasant loop w/ almost zero crowds.

hamburger Rocks / Ghoul Gulch: http://www.bogley.com/forum/showthread.php?27692-Ghoul-Gulch-and-Calf-Canyon

Reid Neilson Draw: http://www.bogley.com/forum/showthread.php?68486-San-Rafael-Spring-2013

Crawford Draw: http://www.americansouthwest.net/slot_canyons/crawford_draw/canyon.html

Does it have to be a canyon or are you just looking for a fun day trip with young kids?

Nine Mile Canyon is a great day trip with young kids.

Goblin - you could throw in Little Wild Horse/Little Wild Horse if you have the time.

Crack Canyon might be what you are looking for. We did it in 4 hours round trip today. Very fun with hella little son (2.9 years) and hella pregnant wife (38.5 weeks).

Son made it to the bottom under his own power, had to be carried back out. He was very stoked!

Not as scenic as LWH, but still hella fun.

Another cool little trip would be to hike to the Rochester Panel near Moore. There is also a cool little cave with Native American artifacts around it close to there as well.
