I was also planning to do the same trip in may but indeed it's closed

Whaaat? No!! I just got the permits and the ranger didn't say anything. I wonder why it's closed :(
I'll get in touch with the back country office sometimes this week. Oh well, if that's not doable, I'll just have to find another waterfall.

I think you can backpack down but you can't rap down the final waterfall. not sure about the narrows just before that.

Lower Deer Creek from the patio to the river is closed for canyoneering and has been for almost 2 years now. The upper forks are still open for canyoneering and the Middle Fork of Deer Creek is absolutely spectacular.

I'd be interested in doing the middle fork. When did you get your permit for? I was looking to do a trip there between May 24th - 28th.

Middle Fork it is. I just read the description again in the Grand Canyoneering book from Todd Martin. Sweet. Just have to be aware for that keeper pothole.

I have camping permits for 4 people for the nights of May 19-20.

And cool photos MrAdams!
