I am thinking about going down to Hammond Canyon next weekend and was wondering what kind of road conditions I might expect. If it is even open, is a 4x4, subaru or a car needed to get to the little notch?

I will be coming in from Blanding, is one road usually better than another to access the area?

I am afraid that it might be a little early to be going up there, but it looks like a great hike.

It is a great hike, but it would probably be better to wait until things dry out, because of the elevation.

Cedar Mesa is right there and would be drier. I guess you could try to drive to Hammond Canyon and have something in Cedar Mesa as a backup.

We were thinking of doing a day hike in Hammond and the two forks of Mule (thanks to the recent trip report). Might substitute Lime or Road if we cannot get into Hammond.
