"Holding Barbie, the quintessential fashion doll, up as a role model for Girl Scouts simultaneously sexualizes young girls, idealizes an impossible body type, and undermines the Girl Scouts' vital mission to build `girls of courage, confidence and character,

Why does no one complain about male toys being "unrealistic body type"? I remember having a He Man action figure, which is also made by Mattel. It isn't exactly a typical male body.

Why is there always a double standard?

There is immense physical pressure on young males to be athletic and strong. Anyone who went through junior high, middle school, or high school who was a "nerd" or what ever (I was) can attest to this.

I don't think dolls or action figures are the problem though.

This mimics my physique very closely and I do not have a problem with it.
