Well, sorry I've been gone so long, I finally got set up with Tapatalk on the iPhone, so now I'll be back with a vengeance;-)

Anyways, I'm not going to lie, even though my points finally granted me a 50% shot at my elk tag in 2012 after 16 unsuccessful years I felt my luck had finally changed when I found out I finally drew the tag of my dreams. Then in 2013 without even close to max points I drew a spring bear tag. Now the dice continues to roll dirty for me again. I am 1 of 4 lucky winners out of over 2900 applicants for a $5 tag at the 2014 Western Hunting and Conservation Expo. I tell myself every year that the year I don't personally know a successful applicant, that will be the last year I dump money into it, I guess I shouldn't know so many people;-) I will be heading into the Book Cliffs to hunt trophy class mule deer in September for the muzzleloader season. I am so stoked to hunt big Muleys. I am definitely open to advice as this is an area of Utah I am not familiar.

Here's a great video of some Book Cliffs bucks from last year. I'm totally amazed!

What is your preferred method of accessing the backcountry? Hiking, horseback, ATV/SxS, vehicle, etc...

I'm up for anything really, I will be taking my atv's but don't hunt from them. I've been told the roads are great places to set up spotting scopes and do some long range scouting. I've also been told to get topo maps and find springs and waterholes off the beaten path. I know 190-200 class bucks are few and far between but I hear 170-180 class bucks are very doable.
