Is there anywhere close to Vegas to take 12 year olds rappelling? Not a slot just a wall?

Red Rock is 20 minutes outside of Vegas and is probably the best area in the state.

Great suggestion! Red Rocks is HUGE. To narrow it down a bit...I'd suggest Calico Basin as there are a lot of options as well you don't have to commit to the Loop Road.

Not sure if you can build your own anchors, or, hope to find something in situ. You can search the mountain project database and look for TR options via the search engine. Handy tool.

Another option or two is Valley of Fire and Keyhole Canyon.
