An arctic blast of weather is hitting the Gulf South and it is COLD. :cold: The city is basically shut down, all schools and businesses are closed (some until Thursday) roads, bridges, etc...etc. Store shelves are empty - it's as if a major hurricane was bearing down on us. I have included a photo to show the massive accumulation of snow and ice we are experiencing. :2thumbs:

:haha:

This was the screenshot from this morning:

Here though, it isn't considered to be that cold. Usually, no one really mentions anything much about the cold until it is at least -30F. The only time the schools have ever closed down for weather is back on Feb 1 1985 when it was -61F in Maybell (next town west). They couldn't get the buses to run.

Nice to see some snow pics in New Orleans!

Here's a famous photograph from the 1895 snowstorm in New Orleans:

8-9 inches of snow fell in New Orleans and 20-22 inches fell in Houston. Some parts of Louisiana were buried in two feet of snow. I wonder how much people would freak out if it snowed that much again?

Most people down here would die with those kind of temps! :haha: Wow....that it some kind of cold! I lived in SLC for nearly 16 yrs and although we had years with a lots of snow, nothing close to these kind of temps. Keep warm! :2thumbs:

That's crazy! I've got a few friends who were attending the NADA convention. They were supposed to fly out today, but now it looks like Thursday.
