Starting to think about what to do next summer and was looking for suggestions on the best hiking guide books for the following areas:

Cloud Peak Wilderness
Mount Zirkel Wilderness
Wind River Range

Thanks, Mike

Hiking and Climbing the Wind River Mountains 3rd Edition by Joe Kelsey is just out a few months ago. It will give you all the mileages and cross-country, unmaintained trails/routes in the Wind Rivers the other books don't. But it is definitely more geared to the climber than the backpacker. Hiking Wyoming's Wind River Range by Ron Adkison is a good supplemental book. If you can only afford one, check out the other one from the library.

Trails of the Sawtooth and White Cloud Mountains by Margaret Fuller

Let me know if you're interested in getting a backpacking group together.

Thanks for the suggestions. No plans yet, just dreaming while sitting inside out of the cold!

Hey I'm also wondering whether there are any books with the best trails on the west of the Mississippi or something else that I could get reading while the season hasn't began yet.
Also this is my first post so I'm quite new to the forum and hopefully no one has asked this question before.
