Yankee Doodle Canyon 26 Nov 2013

Dad and I went down Yankee Doodle Canyon this past Tuesday. Its a great canyon but doing it after a storm sure is cold. :cold: It had many pools, some of which were swimmers. Other than the cold swims it was great!

As we continued down canyon there were a couple easy down climbs into pools. After the first swimmer we decided it was a good idea to put our wetsuits on.

We missed the slab exit and wandered into a chute that we thought was the exit. Climbed up it and discovered a drop. Ended up going all the way down. :haha: Here's the picture, don't go up here.

Only a few weeks ago it was dry, with only a bit of mud at the deepest point, of which three in our party I was the only to not to miss!

Nice photos and trip report! I missed you by a few days; I was up there on the 29th. Didn't drop into slot, but crossed the flats starting from the trailhead near Yankee Doodle. We tried to visit on the 23rd, but the road up there was very muddy and a little precarious.

I'd like to do YD next spring as one of a few "newbie" canyoneering runs. The views there are outstanding.

Edit: did you see the motorbike?
I think I heard a dirt bike but other than that we didn't see it. We saw a SUV by boltergeist canyon though and were curious if there was anybody there.

There's a motorbike at the bottom of YD; it's been there a while.

I can only assume that the rider's hands were shaky and his knees were weak, but the bike is definitely all shook up [/Presley] :naughty:

Actually now that you mentioned that its IN Yankee Doodle, I remember seeing it with my dad. Anybody know what's the story behind it? :popcorn:
