So, I'm just curious what everyone thinks this will do in the future. Just for speculation sake.

Will it cause mass losses for the Democrats in the next elections?

Will it be repealed completely?

Can it be fixed/law made better?

Will the bugs get worked out and it will become normalcy?

It’s impossible for the current system of ObamaCare to succeed as it is flawed in its base concept. But what did you expect when the law was written by the insurance companies.

To succeed the system would require a single point provider, which would need to be controlled by the government. The silly part is we already have such a single point system and it’s known as Medicare. All that we needed to do was require everyone to sign-up for Medicare and then have the government bill at a fair rate and not attempt to make large profits.

ObamaCare will never do what it was supposed to do as long as the insurance companies are writing the laws and attempting to maintain their huge profits. The system is doomed to failure, at least it’s doomed if you are trying to help Joe Six-pack, it’s a great system if you are an insurance company attempting to safe guard your profits.

Folks need to understand that with the current system the insurance companies are nothing but a middle man sucking huge amounts of dollars right off the top of the pile. The middle man needs to be eliminated for Affordable Health Care to become a reality.

My rates just doubled. Two hundred and fifty bucks more a month. $250 X 12 (1 year) = $3000.

I'm 50 years old. Three thousand bucks times 15 years equals $45,000. That's based on the rate I'm paying today and I certainly would have put that money into my retirement, as I've been saving heavy for that for the last 10 years.

Obamacare is going to crash and burn because people will ignore it. When it passed, the first thing that came to my mind was "How the hell are you going to force people to buy health insurance when 3 out of 10 drivers don't even bother buying auto insurance?"

Think about it. Murder has a harsh penalty, right? It's illegal to commit murder and if you do, they will hunt you down like a dog and take away your freedom, or kill you...

What's the penalty for driving without auto insurance? Not much...they may take away your license, but they can't take your car...just hope you don't get pulled over. The penalty is light, really... so they ignore the law.

What's the penalty for not buying health insurance? Hardly anything. A mere $100 fine against your tax return. I think that a whole lot of people are going to the exchange and finding out it isn't free...and now that the word is out that you actually have to BUY it, they're just tuning it out altogether because there's no real punishment for doing so.

I also think that tens upon tens of millions of people have no idea what the hell is going on, or care. What's really going to hit hard is when the employer mandate rolls around, and the employees find out that the boss isn't going to take it in the shorts. This whole thing is death by a thousand cuts, and it's the people that make less than 70 grand a year that are going to get raped the hardest. The very people who voted for that grifter.

I would think that a thorough shellacking is forthcoming with the next midterms, but one thing to consider is that the liberals, although suffering a much lighter wallet just like everyone else, will still vote for their dems anyway. A liberal client of mine said to me "I don't care what it costs, it's doing good things". They're like robots. They live in a dreamworld where the government is going to make everything wonderful, and they're willing to write the check to help make it happen...and force me to write one, too. Big checks...this isn't some nickle or dime stuff on your electric bill or even a percentage of a percentage on the sales tax...hundreds of bucks a month, that's a hurtin'.

Boy, Obama sure turned out to be a slimy crook, didn't he? An absolute master BS artist.

Affordable Health Care Act, eh? Affordable for who? If you're getting it free, I guess. This whole thing is surreal, like a bad acid trip. Bizzaro, man...

To quote a King Crimson song...

"The fate of all mankind it seems, is in the hands of fools".

I work in an emergency room and it's staggering how many uninsured patients are under the impression that they are automatically covered for free by Obamacare. That right there is what this system is banking on. Uninformed would be free-loaders Obama care wasn't designed to fix jack shit. It was designed to FUBAR the whole system and make such a mess of things that a single payer system will be a welcome relief once the insurance companies have been put under. You tell me how a 1300 page bill is going to simplify things.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I believe that there is more than meets the eye in the case of the ACA. There are darker forces at work here.

Hey Bootboy I've been curious. So what happens to those folks that come in expecting to be covered by Obamacare? Technically the Hippocratic Oath says they have to be accepted and treated anyways, right? Isn't it against some policy to refuse somebody from the E.R.? And of course this is nothing new, it's been happening for decades.

But I guess I'm not seeing what Obamacare would fix in the ER situation. Uninsured patients are already being treated, so what does Obamacare give them in addition?

We don't even ask for insurance until after they've been seen. But once the patient has been seen, registration goes in to confirm the pts demographics and insurance. The conversation goes like this

Registrar: So do you have your insurance card with you?

Pt: No

Registrar: Oh, so is this a self pay, or do you have insurance?

Pt: No, I have insurance

Registrar: So who is that through?

Pt: I got that new Obamacare thing.

Registrar: So do you have your information?

Pt: What?

Registrar: Did you sign up for insurance through the website?

Pt: No, I thought it was free. I didn't know I needed to sign up.

Registrar:

I have never walked into a doctors office, hospital or ER and not been asked immediately at check-in for my insurance card.

My wife works as an EMT on an ambulance crew..... she has hundreds of great "uninsured" stories.

The funny part is at one time she also worked for a credit card company. You would be surprised and the number of people that call up and cancel their credit cards and think that also relieves them of paying off the card balance. They would get really mad when they were told they still had to pay the balance. These are the same people now thinking they are covered under Obama Care.

Yeah when I went to the ER this summer from my bike crash, I was immediately asked about my insurance info, then went to the waiting room to be seen.

I met a guy today that thought his renters insurance, which I doubt he actually has, was going to pay for him to move...after living in a place for two days. People just don't understand what insurance is.

I have. Some of the clinics around here want you to pay up front and then bill the insurance yourself.

At my business I have about 150 employees and we have offered them insurance, where they only have to pay 10% and not one employee has ever taken it. They don't want to pay a dime. I just don't understand it. I pay a lot for my insurance.

I need to come work for your company. 10%?? A bargain. Once I moved here (La) from Utah, I tried to keep my BCBS of UT in place for as long as I could. I made it to 18 months when I was told that I had to move it to La state for coverage. My premiums doubled - not because of Obama care - but because of the state rates for individuals here. I basically have had coverage my whole adult life, and at this time, I am only carrying the basic of basics - in other words, if I get hit by a bus or something, I can be taken to the hospital. Guess I better keep myself as healthy as possible :2thumbs:
