Utah High School Mtn Bike Racing

There is now a Utah High School mountain bike racing league. It is really getting big with over 600 racers representing Utah high schools. I have been helping out with the Corner Canyon High School Team as a rider leader, which means I help coach up the racers, ride with them on their training rides and do anything else I can to make the kids better racers. The Corner Canyon team is the largest high school team in the nation with 75 racers. My daughter Sierra is a sophomore on the team, it's her first year racing, in fact it's her first year ever riding a mountain bike.

I love this. My friend is the teacher/advisor for the CC club, maybe you know her: Kathy Meyers? A couple kids in my neighborhood ride for Jordan and my buddy's son rides for Alta. It's great to see so many kids getting out of the basement (playing video games) and out on the trails.

Man, I wish they had this when I was in High School. Fortunately, they had a team where I went to college and I was able to experience this. Lucky kids these days, though. Great all the support the parents offer for this :2thumbs:

The parental support given to the racers is amazing. This Saturday we race in Moab. It's a huge undertaking to transport a group of 75 racers, bikes and equipment to Moab to compete.

Wow, that must be a huge undertaking. We traveled maybe with a group of 13 or so...

That's pretty cool. In all the years I've MT-biked Moab, I've always driven past that area and never rode it. It seems to be a pretty convenient location, though.
Looks like it will be a great experience. All I got to do in High School was run cross-country & track races.

Yup. I saw them race at Snow Basin back in October - maybe trial runs or something. But we saw maybe 5 or 6 from Davis.

Yes, Davis has a team and they are pretty good.

Note the results are split into D1 and D2.

D1 are schools with 15 or more riders.

You will also see several composite teams. These are high schools with few riders that combine to form one team.
