‘MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOU!’: THE ALLEGED NOTE A COUPLE LEFT A GAY WAITER INSTEAD OF A TIP

A Kansas couple allegedly stiffed their waiter this week because they said they could not “in good conscious” support him and his sexual orientation.
“Thank you for your service, it was excellent,” the customers reportedly scribbled on their receipt, according to KCTV (http://www.kctv5.com/story/23784990/anti-gay-customers-refuse-tip-to-server-other-patrons-rally-around-him). “That being said, we cannot in good conscience tip you, for your homosexual lifestyle is an affront to God.”
“Queers do not share in the wealth of God, and you will not share in ours. We hope you will see the tip your fag choices made you lose out on, and plan accordingly. It is never too late for GOD’S love, but none shall be spared for fags. May God have mercy on you,” the alleged note adds.
The 20-year-old waiter works alongside his mother, who is a hostess, at a Carrabba’s Italian Grill in Overland Park, Kansas.
His mother was understandably upset when she learned about the note:

Both the server and his mother declined to comment on the note and have instead referred the media to Carrabba’s management.
“We embrace diversity and believe in treating everyone with respect,” the company said in a statement.
The company has not yet said if it would take action against the couple if they return to the restaurant.
News of the couple’s alleged note spread quickly on the Internet. Needless to say, it has been poorly received.
“We will allow you to serve us our food and beverages and cater to our every need for the entirety of our meal. And when you are finished, we will stiff you on the tip and call you a fag,” New York Magazine’s (http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2013/10/waiter-note-gay-god-kansas-carrabbas.html) Dan Amira wrote, pointing out the couple’s alleged inconsistency. “Because our consciences are just that strong.”

F'in idiots. If they felt that strongly maybe they shouldn't have eaten there. What about the ones that aren't flamboyant enough for them to recognize? Maybe their God should condemn them for being idiots.

Tolerant of gays enough to be served and eat the food they're served, but not the tip!

Not cool...if they are so opposed to the whole gay thing, then they should have left to eat somewhere else rather than have that person serve them. What they did was COMPLETELY selfish, in my opinion.

Just down the street from my place is the "Gay Starbucks"...I go there to get a drink nearly every day. I'll admit, it's a bit annoying when the guys that work there carry on like fruitcakes with their girly jeans, frilly tops, makeup and prancing around. Sometimes I just want to say "Hey dude, I'm just here to get a drink, I really don't need the whole Broadway production number".

They put on this show for anybody and everyone that comes into the store. I'm sure there are plenty that think it's cute, but I also can imagine some coming in and thinking "WTF is this?". They really do take it over the top in there. There's four of them, and I don't think any are yet 20 years old. They're like young girls.

I don't mind...whatever floats the boat, ya know? But at the same time I can certainly understand those that just don't "get it'...although leaving notes, or saying anything for that matter, is certainly uncalled for.

That's why I've always bit my lip when considering the Broadway remark.

Yeah that's totally lame. Good service is good service and should be rewarded. What they did makes no sense to me.
