This year, we've had a couple of Great Gray Owls and several Great Horned Owls in the valley. I never heard of any nesting in the GV campground this year nor one on the Moose/Wilson Road.
The Great Horned Owls have been fairly elusive for me, usually flying off before I get much of a shot. This one was hunting and was less concerned with me than normal.
Weather had changed here as of last night. We had bluebird clear skies for most of a week, but it is cloudy and dull right now with some overnight rain. Looks like we can expect that for most of he week, too.
Here's a link to the October Daily Updates page.

Those great grays are huge birds a can really startle you when you see one. It's pretty surreal to have on stare you down.

70404Actually, I mislabeled the subject. This one is a great gray owl. The original one was a great horned owl. There are a few owls of both species on this page: http://www.bestofthetetons.com/2013/11/01/late-october-wildlife-owls-and-moose/
