I am headed for Sandthrax this weekend with a large group of beginners, who will be focused on doing the basic canyons in NW proper. Those headed that way expecting solitude there, and quiet in camp before 930, (never a good expectation there, but especially in the busy months of March- April and Sept-Oct), may wish to choose a slightly less busy campsite a little more off of the beaten path.

OR.... you and your noobs could choose a "slightly less busy campsite a little more off the beaten path" as well. Why is it that everyone expects everyone else to plan and move around them?:facepalm1:

It's not like Sandthrax offers amenities that can't be found at any one of the numerous, more isolated spots nearby. Camp up top where you can make all the noise you want and not bother anybody else.

Rick,
Will your group arrive Friday night and if so, what's your ETA?

I'll assume that you're being just a bit sarcastic in light of the hubris in the other thread. Anyone going there should assume the risks of noise and hope they get lucky, if some peace and quiet after 10pm is desired.
But then again, a handful of mushrooms, flavored with a couple sparked bowls and washed down with a few beers followed by naked howling at the moon sounds like fun, too!
