Now that I've got the article posted, I can comment...About Frickin' Time. I just wish the states could collect entrance fees during this since there's no indication that they'll be reimbursed afterward.

"Wyoming cannot bail out the federal government and we cannot use state money to do the work of the federal government," Mead spokesman Renny MacKay said Thursday.

Exactly. Our tax dollars already go towards funding National Parks...why should we have to pay twice? I smell bull$hite. :topes:

If the States are allowed to charge the same entrance fees, and keep the money that they collect during that time period, some states may not fare so badly, especially since October is one of the peak months in the Utah parks. In fact, they could actually come out ahead if it is allowed. Wyoming; not so much though. Visitation isn't that great in October in the National Parks there. IN the NF lands, it is busy for hunting, but for the National Parks; it's off season.

Wyoming Governor Matt Mead refused to spend state money to pay to keep GTNP and Yellowstone open.
