21 July 2012, the last day in a long week down in Zion, Natalie and I took a stroll through Echo Canyon. This was our first time through and enjoyed it very much.

Starting from the Weeping Wall shuttle stop we worked our way up the East Rim trail. Passing the turnoff for Hidden Canyon we continued to the junction where the trail splits to observation point. Continuing on the East Rim trail for another 20 minutes or so, we found ourselves down in the Echo Canyon wash. We weren't exactly sure where to start and didn't want to miss any cool features so we probably hiked way past where most people start.

We took a 110ft rope and a bunch of webbing. Wetsuits were nice to have too, that water is mighty cold! In all this canyon took us about 4 hours.

Towards the end of the canyon the weather started to feel a bit nasty and we could hear thunder in the distance. Sand from above started to whip in from the walls above and made it hard see at times. The forecast for the day called for 10% rain but we got an early start and weren't too worried. It started to rain on us a little when we got back to the shuttle stop. Hours after exiting this canyon it really started to rain on the East side of the park and reveled many flash floods.

Beautiful pics! :2thumbs:

I went through last year, but don't recall seeing the "cool bendy log thing." That's pretty cool looking.

Thanks for sharing, I always enjoy your TR's.

Thanks Dave! Yea I actually passed the log and didn't notice it either, then Natalie said "oh look at that cool log".
