Other North Wash canyons beta

Since the thread on the North Wash flooding mention that the Meetup group split into various parties to head out into a variety of canyons, are there any other condition reports that the rest of us could benefit form? Saw Doug's reports on East Lep and Morocco. Beta on any other canyons in the vicinity might be helpful for others heading that way in the near future. Hogs? Woody complex? Maidenwater complex? Trachyt?
Also, any definitve reports coming out of the Cedar Mesa area yet?

We did woody and witch cauldron. You need 4x4 and off road driving to get to witch cauldron since the road is badly damaged. Woody is super fun and easy - 100 potholes in a row - our leader did all of them without any assistance or tools.

It was full. We had probably 10 or 15 swimmer potholes but exit was not hard because the water reached the rim - except for one which probably drains from the middle, this is the one after the rappel. There was a ledge you can stand on and a tall strong person can just muscle it up from there. Here is a picture of that harder potwhole. That rappel can be down-climbed too so one can do it even without a rope (just some webbing for hand line) for a more adrenaline full adventure :). If you drop/slip on the down climb it is a full swimmer below so it will be fun.

I think you should start a new thread on that question.

You might explain how the system works, what the results have been, and what you think the problems are.

we were 3 tot that i canyoneer before and we choose woody after find out pothole were tippy top full
sky clear but once in we were out in 1:10 minutes scouting possible exits at the same time.

Tom none of these incidents you have lambasted so heartily these past 10 days has happened to anyone from Grand Junction:
Hogwarts last year - Salt Lake City person (SLC)
Constrictnyne in April - SLC
Black Hole cold and long - SLC
North Wash flooding and 3 injuries - SLC

There was too much water almost everywhere for other on-site reports from the weekend of Sept. 14th in the North Wash area.

Did you get into some North Wash canyons during that week following - say Sept. 17-20?

Sunday the 22nd was flash flooding again in the North Wash area. Driving from the end of a raft trip where we took out at Lake Powell up to Hanksville, Butler Wash and many other canyons entering North Wash from the east were chock full of water.

Interesting that no water was coming out of the Lep Canyon system or the Blarney's. As long as that little Leprechaun Canyon access road is not repaired any time Lep's get a flash-flood there is a good chance Sandthrax Campground will be washed away again. Take a look at the dirt road washout entering the Lep's and you will see what I mean (sorry no photo).

If you look at river flow gauges for that day, Sunday the 22nd, the Dirty Devil, Muddy Creek, San Rafael River are all flowing at just a few cfs yet North Wash Creek was raging that day. I bet if it were gauged the flow on North Wash Creek would have recorded well over 1000 cfs. Moab that day also had waterfalls dropping everywhere and many of the Potash Road campgrounds with picnic tables, fire rings and all the rest of the amenities were under 2-12" of water.
