So in a nut shell and few nutty friends and I are heading to the Grand Cyn. by dirt.
Lightning and rain everywhere around me at this time and the roads have all those big yellow signs that warn you about this road may be impassible during incliment weather.:lol8:
The plan is to truck the bikes out to the little School House at Mt. Trumble then ride to the east up over to the MT. Trumble over look.

I think this is one to pack a sleeping bag and tent and food and wate, gas ect. for in the truck.
Worst comes to worst I can leave the truck and ride home if need be and fetch the truck up later when things dry out some.
Either way this should be one to remember.
EPIC comes to mind.:crazycobasa:

Do you mean the Mt Trumble out near Tuweep (Toroweap)?

This was a ride to remember. 7 flash flood crossings and then at the summit to MT. Trumble is was all straight down the road. (The river from the rain).
Just after we hit the ranger cabins it got real exciting and the first crossing in the road mind you was about 35ft wide with a three foot tounge just at the right edge of the road. All my buddies stopped to think about it while I grabbed third gear sat back and pinned it. They got the message fast enough and soon caught back up to me.

Funny thing is when we got to the south slope side our goggs were so messed up nobody was wearing them any longer and then we got into a bit of dust. Go figure?

From the school house to the ranger station was about 18 inches of deep rutted mud that just plain were's you out mentally. If you stayed in the deepest water rutts and sat back and gassed it you where ok but the minute the rutts changed you would be all over that road.

When you live in the Dez there are not many times to learn how to ride mud but this one was very educational for me:lol8:
It was raining so hard in places and not a drop the next mtn over.
EPIC ride and all I took for picts was of the Grand Canyon at Torroweep.

After the ride we loaded up the trucks and just before the last summit we had missed another flash flood after we drove into the School House and on the way out we noticed full junipers that had been left in the middle of the road everywhere on the way back just before Sigmiller.

It was friggin epic and I'm glad I went. The miles of deep rutts were hypnotizing and before long you found yourself side ways in a hurry.:facepalm1:
Never put the ol girl down but came very close on many occasions.:2thumbs:

Ya for a desert dweller this don't happen very often.

One of the guys I have never rode with before. He's from Enterprise and was on a XR400 and when we left the Grand Canyon he and I were getting hard with some 15 to 20 ft mudd puddles that strectched the width of the road. I know he was feeling reel good about things till I grabbed sixth gear:lol8:
He came back to me later at the trucks and to me he is going to get some handle bar deflectors before our next ride.:roflol:Told me he seen this baseball size rock that hit him like a ton of bricks:lol8:

A little something I'd like to throw in on this is, This Bridgstone 604 may have a wierd tire pattern to it but rocks is wet conditions.
THe front 403 is great in desert conditions but Machete showed me an IRC front that I just have to try out after this ride or any other.

Looks like some kids rear tire V 43 or some shit. You will not nock off the side treads on that baby...
