Great maps of historical water levels are available at http://graphs.water-data.com/lakepowell/

Seems unlikely to drop enough to see the Cathedral.

Thanks for the graph. To me clearly this fall the lake won’t be low enough, but there is a small chance this spring that the lake could drop enough. From the graph you provided, I see an average drop from August to April of 20 to 25 ft. The lake needs to drop at least 35 ft to be able to view the Cathedral. So most likely it won’t drop that low, however the spring of 2015 would have a good chance if we have another bad winter.

Cathedral in the desert is a nice place right now. I was there in mid June at 3601'. We did Clear Creek from the top. Some in our group came up from the lake and met us at the big rappel. At 3601', the top of the drop at the Cathedral was 6-7 feet above the lake, there was a small waterfall, and this could easily be up-climbed. The sand level under the waterfall was probably about 20-25 feet under the water, and will probably be exposed next spring.

The bureau of reclamation just released a statement saying that they are going to release less water out of powell because of the ongoing drought. I was really hoping they would drain that piece of shit lake and store the water in mead instead.
