We went back to Lava Hot Springs again this summer for the second time. The Portneuf River is always a great tubing run. Shirt and foot protection recommended! Sharp lava rocks line the river bottom.
For some reason I often hear rumors of the river being closed to tubing because of low water levels, but this is never the case. I'm not even sure they could close the river, but at least the tube rental vendors could choose to postpone business because of too much damage to the gear.
Nevertheless, this was not the case, again. And I've seen the river at all kinds of levels, this time it was about average flow and still a great run. It's nice to stop by some of the heated streams trickling into the sides of the river and chill.
We camped this time at Smiths Trout Haven, a decent place, decent price. Very little shade though, but they did provide pavilions with electricity, picnic tables and a firepit.
Also a few pics from when my brother Ty borrowed my GoPro and took it to the pool. I couldn't go off the high dives because I'm still healing up from my wreck - http://www.bogley.com/forum/showthread.php?69417-My-turn-to-dislocate-a-thumb plus the wife and I left early for Wendover to catch Tesla at the Peppermill Concert Hall :2thumbs:
