We played around with finding a good exit route up the Wild Wind route on Saturday. There was only one section that we had to bushwack through that I circled on the map. Other than that it is easy exit hike out and avoids having 2 vehicles and shuttling them around. The views are awesome also. I will post up some pics when I get them off the camera.

So it's pretty much "ridge" walking ccording to your map. I did the wash and it sucked...

Ill have to see your pics to judge it from ours.

I followed bluugnomes gps cord out when we did it. Wasn't too bad but not amazing either. It was a hell of a lot longer exit then I was expecting though. Kody what way do you come out of englestead when you go up?

It was a lot ridge walking. That is generally the least bushy, especially if you stay to the sunny side where vegetation doesn't grow as well.

Last time we did Englestead we parked a car at the Lower Orderville parking area. I think it was 1:45 from Englestead to there. I would have to check my notes to be sure on that though.

Would you say that this hike is "better" or "faster" than just hiking out to Orderville TH and walking up the road? From the map you posted it doesn't really look much shorter. I usually take two cars, but was just curious. Thanks.

When we did it, it took us around hour and half for a group of 12. Best part, no worries about a shuttle. Down side - the exit is all up hill, as you can tell.

I wouldn't say better by any means though.

My 2 cents... the hike out Wild Wind is a lot faster if you include the time setting up the shuttle required with Orderville. And a lot depends on if you use the 2WD Orderville shuttle or the 4WD orderville shuttle. The big advantage to Wild Wind is no shuttle is required.

If you are looking for the easiest method in terms of physical energy used that would be using Orderville with a 4WD shuttle.

I've done the Orderville TH exit, the wild wind in the gully exit, and the wild wind ridgeline exit. The ridgeline exit is the way to go, hands down, no doubt about it.

What Shane said.

Requires more effort but shorter in time when you factor in car shuttling.
